Dermoscopy image quality checklist

Poor images weaken both human review and AI-assisted screening. A small capture checklist makes follow-up comparisons more reliable.

DermaTrack is a personal screening and documentation tool. It is not a certified medical device and does not provide a medical diagnosis.

Sharp focus

Retake blurry images. The lesion border and internal color variation should be visible before analysis.

Full lesion in frame

Include the whole lesion plus a small rim of surrounding skin. Cropping too tightly removes useful border context.

Controlled glare

Use polarized lighting when available and adjust pressure or angle if reflections hide pigment detail.

Repeatable setup

Use the same device, distance, orientation, and lighting for follow-up whenever possible.

Quality before credits

DermaTrack checks brightness, contrast, and sharpness so users can retake weak captures before spending scan credits.
